Expired password reset links

Reset links expire for security. Request a new one and complete it in a single session.

Password reset links are short-lived. Opening an old email, waiting too long, or requesting multiple resets can invalidate earlier links.

Why this feature exists

Expiring links protect your account if an email is later forwarded or left open on a shared device.

Symptoms

  • “Link expired” or invalid token message
  • Reset page loads but will not accept the token
  • Link worked yesterday but not today

Likely causes

  • Link past its expiry window
  • A newer reset request invalidated the previous link
  • Link opened in a different browser profile than intended
  • Partial copy/paste of the URL

Step-by-step

    Request a brand-new reset

    Start password reset again from the sign-in page and open only the newest email.

    Use the link promptly

    Complete the new password in one sitting on a trusted device.

    Open the link directly

    Prefer the button in the email. If you paste the URL, copy the full address with no missing characters.

    Sign in with the new password

    After success, sign in and optionally review Sessions to sign out other devices.
