Evidence Gaps
See what may still be missing from your case materials and decide what to gather next.
Overview
Evidence Gaps highlights areas where your case story may lack supporting documents. Sera proposes gaps based on patterns in your materials — you decide what’s relevant, what’s already covered offline, and what to request next.
Why this feature exists
Knowing what you don’t have is as important as organizing what you do. Gaps turn vague worry into a practical collection list.
Step-by-step
- 1
Open Evidence Gaps
From the Insights cluster, open Evidence Gaps for your current case.
- 2
Review each suggested gap
Read why Sera thinks something may be missing and whether it applies to your matter.
- 3
Mark what you’ll pursue
Turn real gaps into Tasks, or note that you already have the material elsewhere and plan to Add Documents.
- 4
Upload when materials arrive
Use Add Documents, then revisit Evidence Gaps after review so completed gaps can clear.
Best practices
- Confirm gaps against reality — Sera can’t know about papers still in a drawer until you add them.
- Prioritize gaps that affect near-term deadlines or conversations with counsel.
- Keep discarded gap suggestions cleared so the list stays useful.
Productivity tips
- Batch-request missing records (schools, banks, agencies) from one Evidence Gaps session.
- Link newly added documents back to timeline events as soon as gaps close.
Common mistakes
- Treating every suggested gap as mandatory.
- Uploading unrelated filler just to make a gap disappear.
Frequently asked questions
Does a gap mean I did something wrong?
No. Gaps are preparation signals. Many matters begin incomplete. The goal is clarity, not blame.
Can I ignore a gap?
Yes. If it doesn’t apply, clear or dismiss it. You’re the judge of relevance for your situation — and your lawyer is the authority on legal necessity.
