Managing tasks
Track practical next steps — gather documents, follow up, and prepare — without losing them in chat history.
Overview
Tasks turn recommendations and personal reminders into a clear checklist for your case. Sera may suggest tasks from What Sera Found or Insights; you can also create your own. Mark items done as you complete them so Home stays focused on what still matters.
Why this feature exists
Important follow-ups disappear in stress. Tasks keep next steps visible beside your documents and timeline — not buried in notes.
Step-by-step
- 1
Open Tasks
From primary navigation, open Tasks for the case you’re working on.
- 2
Review suggested and existing items
Check recommendations from What Sera Found, then confirm which tasks you want to keep.
- 3
Create a task when something is actionable
Add a clear title and, when helpful, a due sense of timing — especially for document requests and deadlines.
- 4
Mark progress
Mark as done when finished, or update the task if the next step changed.
- 5
Connect work back to materials
When a task involves a file or date, keep Timeline and Evidence nearby so completion is grounded in sources.
Best practices
- Write tasks as actions (“Request complete order”) rather than vague labels (“Order”).
- Keep the list short enough to finish — archive or complete noise.
- Turn Evidence Gaps into tasks when you decide to pursue missing materials.
Productivity tips
- Start each session by completing one small task before new uploads.
- After speaking with counsel, capture agreed follow-ups as tasks immediately.
Common mistakes
- Creating duplicate tasks for the same recommendation.
- Leaving completed items open so the list always looks overwhelming.
- Treating Sera-suggested tasks as mandatory legal instructions.
Frequently asked questions
Are tasks legal deadlines?
Only if you enter a real deadline from a source document or counsel. Suggested tasks are preparation helpers, not court orders.
Where do task suggestions come from?
Often from What Sera Found, Insights, or Evidence Gaps after Sera reviews your case. You choose what to keep.
