Timeline not updating

Get Timeline to reflect new documents and events after uploads or edits.

Overview

Timeline builds as materials process and as you add or edit events. If it looks stale, processing may still be running, the wrong case may be selected, or the browser view may need a refresh.

A trustworthy chronology is central to preparing your matter with SeraCase.

Symptoms

  • New uploads do not create expected events
  • Timeline empty despite documents in Evidence
  • Edits not visible until much later
  • Order looks wrong after a merge or cleanup

Likely causes

  • Documents still processing
  • Wrong case selected in the sidebar
  • Events filtered or scrolled out of view
  • OCR too weak to propose dates
  • Stale browser tab

Step-by-step

  1. 1

    Confirm the current case

    Use the case selector and open Timeline for the case that received the uploads.

    Wait for Add Documents to finish

    Check processing status. Timeline suggestions often appear after extraction and organization complete.

    Refresh the page

    Reload Timeline once jobs show completed.

    Add or edit events manually

    Create key dates yourself when automatic suggestions are thin — you stay in control of the chronology.

    Review What Sera Found

    Some organization suggestions land in What Sera Found before they appear as Timeline changes.

  • Pin critical deadlines as soon as you know them.
  • Prefer clear document dates in filenames when scans lack headers.

  • After a large batch, start on Home — Insights and What Sera Found often signal when Timeline is ready to review.

Common mistakes

  • Expecting every photo to become an event instantly.
  • Looking at Case A while uploading into Case B.
