Getting started with SeraCase

Learn how SeraCase helps you organize documents, build a timeline, and prepare next steps — calmly and securely.

Overview

SeraCase is an AI case management workspace for individuals navigating legal matters. You create a private case, add documents, and Sera helps organize a searchable timeline, evidence library, tasks, and recommended next steps — whether you work with a lawyer or organize independently. Sera does not give legal advice and does not replace a lawyer.

Why this feature exists

Legal work is stressful and paperwork piles up quickly. SeraCase exists so you — and your legal team, when you have one — can stay informed while documents, dates, and evidence stay organized in one secure place.

Step-by-step

  1. 1

    Create your account

Sign up with your email, accept the legal acknowledgments, and optionally enable multi-factor authentication for stronger protection.

  2. 2

    Create your first case

From Home, choose Create Case. Give it a clear name (for example, “Family matter — 2026”). You can add court file details later.

  3. 3

    Add documents

Open Add Documents and upload court orders, emails, photos, or PDFs. Sera reads text where possible and begins organizing materials.

  4. 4

    Review your Home and Timeline

Home shows insights and recommended next steps. Timeline shows events in order as Sera and you add them.

  5. 5

    Ask Sera when you’re unsure

Use Ask Sera to explain a document, find gaps, or suggest what to do next — always in plain language.

Best practices

  • Use one case per legal matter so materials stay cleanly separated.
  • Upload clearer scans when possible — better images mean better organization.
  • Enable MFA early; it takes a minute and protects sensitive files.
  • Check What Sera Found after major uploads for recommended next steps.

Productivity tips

  • Add a short display name to camera files (IMG_…) so exports stay readable.
  • Pin important deadlines on the Timeline as soon as you know them.
  • Replay product tours from Help anytime you want a refresher.

Common mistakes

  • Mixing unrelated matters in one case.
  • Waiting to upload everything before reviewing Timeline — incremental uploads work best.
  • Treating Sera’s suggestions as legal advice.

Frequently asked questions

Does Sera replace my lawyer?

No. Sera is an AI case assistant that helps organize and prepare. She does not provide legal advice or make legal decisions. SeraCase is valuable whether you work with counsel or manage preparation independently.

How long until Sera organizes my documents?

Most files begin processing immediately. Larger PDFs may take longer. You’ll see progress on Add Documents.
