Can I restore deleted files?

Yes — during the Trash recovery window. After that window, deletion becomes permanent.

Overview

Move to Trash soft-deletes materials and keeps them recoverable for a limited period (typically 30 days, based on your retention settings). Restore from Trash/Data Center before the purge date.

Why this feature exists

Mistakes happen under stress. A recovery window prevents accidental permanent loss.

Step-by-step

  1. 1

    Open Data / Trash

Go to Settings → My Data (Data Center) and find items in Trash.

  2. 2

    Restore before the purge date

Restore while the recovery window is open. After permanent deletion, files cannot be recovered.

Best practices

  • Double-check the item name before Move to Trash.
  • Note the purge date shown in confirmation dialogs.

Productivity tips

  • If you are unsure, archive via Export first, then trash.

Common mistakes

  • Waiting until after the recovery window to look for a file.
  • Confusing Move to Trash with permanent deletion.

Frequently asked questions
