Exporting your case
Create a downloadable package of your case materials when you’re ready to share or keep an offline copy.
Overview
Export builds a package from your case workspace — documents and organized materials you’ve prepared. Use it when you want an offline set for yourself, counsel, or another secure workflow. Always review what’s included before you share.
Why this feature exists
Organization inside SeraCase should travel with you. Export turns your prepared case into a portable package without reinventing your filing from scratch.
Step-by-step
- 1
Open Export
Select the correct case, then open Export from primary navigation.
- 2
Choose what to include
Review package options so you export the materials you intend — not an incomplete or oversized set by accident.
- 3
Start the export job
Confirm and let SeraCase prepare the package. Larger cases take longer.
- 4
Download when ready
When the job completes, download the package and store it somewhere you control.
- 5
Share carefully
Only send exports through channels you trust. See Sharing exports for practical guidance.
Best practices
- Clean Timeline duplicates and confirm key evidence links before exporting.
- Export a test package early once, so you’re not learning the flow on deadline day.
- Acknowledge any legal notices the product requires before download.
Productivity tips
- Keep a short pre-export checklist: dates verified, gaps reviewed, trash emptied of mistakes.
- Name downloaded files with case name and date so versions don’t get confused.
Common mistakes
- Exporting the wrong case when multiple matters are open.
- Sharing a package before reviewing sensitive contents.
- Assuming export replaces ongoing work in SeraCase — keep working in-product as materials evolve.
Frequently asked questions
How long does an export take?
Small cases are often ready quickly. Larger document sets take longer. Watch the export job status on Export until download is available.
Can I export more than once?
Yes. Create a new package when materials change. Prefer the newest package when sharing.
