Ask Sera

Ask questions in plain language about your documents, timeline, and next steps — without treating answers as legal advice.

Overview

Ask Sera is your conversational workspace with Sera, your AI case assistant. Ask her to explain a document, find themes, surface gaps, or suggest calm next steps based on materials in your case. Sera organizes and prepares; she does not give legal advice or replace a lawyer.

Why this feature exists

When paperwork is overwhelming, you need a clear way to ask “what is this?” and “what might I do next?” without wading through every page alone.

Step-by-step

  1. 1

    Open Ask Sera

From Home or primary navigation, open Ask Sera with the correct case selected.

  2. 2

    Ask a specific question

Mention the document, date, or theme you care about. Specific questions get clearer answers.

  3. 3

    Review sources when offered

When Sera points to materials, open them in Evidence to verify wording yourself.

  4. 4

    Turn useful ideas into action

Create a task, add a timeline note, or follow a recommendation in What Sera Found when something actionable appears.

  5. 5

    Continue the conversation

Ask follow-ups. Keep the thread focused on one theme when you can — it stays easier to revisit.

Best practices

  • Verify important facts in the original documents.
  • Ask one clear question at a time when you’re stuck.
  • Use Review with Sera on documents when you want a structured pass, then Ask Sera for follow-ups.

Productivity tips

  • Start with “Summarize what changed since my last uploads.”
  • Paste a short quote and ask where it appears and what surrounds it.
  • End a session by capturing two tasks from the conversation.

Common mistakes

  • Treating Sera’s suggestions as legal advice or court strategy.
  • Asking about materials that haven’t finished reviewing yet.
  • Expecting Sera to know documents that aren’t in the current case.

Frequently asked questions

Does Ask Sera give legal advice?

No. Sera helps organize, explain in plain language, and suggest preparation steps. She does not provide legal advice or make legal decisions.

Can Sera see all my cases at once?

Work within the case you have selected. Keep matters separate so answers stay focused on the right context.

What should I do if an answer looks wrong?

Open the source document. If review was incomplete or a photo was unclear, improve the upload and ask again. You’re always the final reviewer of your materials.
